Stoeger is best known for their double-barreled shotguns, but they field their fair share of handguns as well. The STR is an ergonomic striker-fired 9mm pistol at a competitive price. New for 2024 is the STR-45 — the STR in the all-American .45 ACP cartridge.
- Model: STR-45
- Caliber: .45 ACP
- Capacity: 10+1 or 13+1
- Barrel Length: 4.6 inches
- Overall Length: 7.5 inches
- Weight: 26 oz. unloaded
The .45 ACP is an excellent personal defense cartridge even if you’re stuck with ball ammunition. The new STR-45 holds up to fourteen of them in a double-stack magazine.
The STR-45 has a black-nitride slide with aggressive forward and rearward cocking serrations that give the shooter plenty of real estate with slick hands. In addition, the slide harbors either drift-adjustable three-dot iron or tritium night sights. No pistol in the 2020s is truly complete without being optics-ready and the STR-45 accepts a range of red dot footprints.
Ergonomically, the STR-45 is a polymer-framed pistol with a high-cut beavertail and full coverage stippling along the grip. The frame has a thumb and trigger-finger shelf as well as a three-slot Picatinny rail for weapon lights. It also features an ambidextrous slide release and reversible magazine release suitable for left and right-handed shooters.
New for SHOT Show 2024, the Stoeger STR-45 is shipping to a dealer near you with an MSRP starting at $529.
