The Scar 17S DMR features numerous upgrades over the basic rifle. These include the precision buttstock assembly and Geissele 2-stage trigger, the latter of which offers superior trigger control and greater accuracy on target.

Chris Cole, Vice President of Sales for FN America, LLC, said, “The SCAR is the most tested rifle platform that FN has ever developed. It was designed to be lightweight, rugged, accurate and modular to give the user a rifle platform that could be configured to their needs. This new and limited-time build demonstrates the modularity of the SCAR design by combining features of the SCAR 17S heavy carbine and the SCAR 20S precision rifle to create a one-of-a-kind, mid-range designated marksman rifle.”

Features and Upgrades

Upgrades to the 17S DMR from the standard carbine configuration include components like the SSR Rear Stock and Geissele SuperSCAR two-stage trigger. Combined with match-grade ammunition and optics, this rifle is capable of offering greater precision for long-range shooting. The rifle has a 16.25-inch barrel that is cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined for fantastic durability and accuracy. It has a 1 in 8 twist rate, standard carbine profile, and factory muzzle device. Thanks to its lighter-weight barrel the DMR is easier to maneuver for swift deployment and rapid target engagement quickly. This rifle is designed for portability and performance.

The rifle has a monolithic aluminum receiver with a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail for the easy addition of optics and other aftermarket accessories. Scar-signature flip-up front and rear adjustable iron sights come standard as well. There are also dual, non-reciprocating charging handles located on either side that are designed to be user-configurable and remain locked forward during live fire.

MSRP for the FN Scar 17S DMR in 6.5 Creedmoor in black or flat dark earth is set at $4629.00.
