New from Weatherby: The Orion SxS Side-by-Side Shotgun

Weatherby has announced the newest part of its Orion shotgun family with a new side-by-side version. The Orion SxS side-by-side shotgun is said to be the perfect companion for your next bird hunt or clay shoot.

Featuring a matte blue receiver and barrel with top rib, the Orion SxS will be available in both 12 gauge and 20 gauge. Regardless of which gauge the shooter uses, the shotgun has a 28-inch barrel. It also has a mechanical double trigger that is reliable as well as classic to the Orion family of guns. To explain the trigger for those who may not know, the front trigger fires the right barrel while the rear trigger fires the left barrel. The Orion SxS also features a classic swamp rib so as to not obscure the shooter’s view of their target.

The shotgun has a straight grade “A” walnut English stock and slim splinter forend for the classic look as well as aiding in natural handling and firing. To help beef up the wrist of the stock a touch, the Orion SxS has an extended tang trigger guard for added stability for the shooter. On top of that, it features an ambidextrous tang safety that is ergonomically placed for both right- and left-handed shooters to use effectively.

The Weatherby Orion comes from the factory with five extended chokes: SK, IC, Mod, IM, and Full, and uses the Yildiz choke system. The shotgun barrels are designed to work with modern steel shot loads. The shotgun weighs 6.7 pounds, meaning you can handle it for extended periods without much fatigue.

Created with nature-conscious hunters in mind, the Orion SxS features extractors to ensure spent shells can be collected easier and not littered across the landscape. The Weatherby Orion SxS shotguns should be shipping to dealers this month and have an MSRP of $1,099.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
