CZ has taken the 712 G3 shotgun and given the market another option with the 712 G3 Target. CZ calls this a next-generation shotgun, as the 712 G3 inherits some of the best features of the G2 shotgun and ups it with the Target platform.
Features
The CZ 712 G3 Target is a gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun that uses a lightweight alloy receiver. According to CZ, the shotgun can handle a variety of shotshell loads making it a great choice for clays, upland game, or waterfowl hunting. The 712 G3 Target has a new butt pad and a new safety size and location. It’s in front of the trigger guard and more left-handed friendly.
The Target G3 has a Turkish walnut stock and forend matched with the matte black 30” barrel with 7mm wide ventilated rib. The combination of the longer barrel with the new butt pad makes the shotgun tamer to shoot and more comfortable. On top of that, the 712 G3 Target has an adjustable comb and stock shim set to get the custom fit the shooter needs.
The updates for the G3 Target include an oversized bolt handle making it easier to operate and an enlarged bolt release for even faster reloads. According to the company, the designers of the shotgun also moved the bolt lock to the right side of the receiver, adding to the overall enhanced ergonomics.
Another neat feature of the 712 G3 Target is that it comes from CZ with five of the company’s new Active-Choke extended choke tubes and is said to be easy to change without needing tools. The chokes feature threading on the top 2/3 to keep them securely in place. In addition to that, the Target can use a wide array of ammunition, taking the shotgun to a higher level of versatility and performance. The interchangeable pistons allow for cycling either light 2¾” target loads or 3” magnum field loads for heavy and light loads.
The CZ 712 G3 Target shotgun has an overall length of 51 inches and weighs just 7.3 pounds. The shotgun is out now and has an MSRP of $799.
