The Model 2020 Redline is a new bolt-action rifle designed and built with the classic “scout rifle” concept in mind. Chambered in either .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor, the Springfield Redline 2020 will initially be available with a choice of 16-inch or 20-inch carbon fiber-jacketed barrel. It’s a relatively compact bolt gun, with an overall length as short as 36.5 inches; this, combined with its light weight, makes it a great option for a truck gun or an easy-to-manipulate hunting rifle.
There are four models available in the initial release; two per caliber with one each of the two barrel lengths.
Springfield Armory promises a .75 MOA accuracy assuming a three-shot group at 100 yards with match-grade factory ammunition and a shooter that does their part.
Springfield 2020 Redline: Stock, Action, and Barrel
The Redline, which utilizes an AICS pattern magazine, has a few significant features that bear particular inspection: the action, the stock, and the barrel.
Stock
The Redline is built on a Trekker stock from Grayboe Custom “People’s Rifle stocks. It has an adjustable length of pull and at 28 ounces, it’s light.
Removable inserts beneath the recoil pad allow length of pull adjustment of up to 16 inches if additional spacers are used. It also has an integrated bubble level at the rear of the action — you can keep an eye on it without breaking cheek weld or losing optic line of sight.
Action
The Model 2020 utilizes a fluted bolt with dual locking lugs and a low-profile bolt stop.
Barrel
The Redline’s fluted barrel is jacketed in roll-wrapped carbon fiber, meaning not only is it light, but it has just a minimum of material touching the actual barrel.
