For almost 30 years, Bond Arms has been producing modern and robust versions of the iconic Remington Model 95 derringer. Their little two-shot tanks are robust, safe, and chamber truly big-bore cartridges while retaining the same small footprint and bulletproof design that made the original so prolific. Although two rounds is a bit light in terms of firepower, you still get two big rounds. But what if you need something even more powerful? The newly released Bond Arms Cyclops single-shot derringer in .44 Magnum might be up to the task.
Quick Specs:
- Model: Cyclops
- Caliber: .44 Magnum
- Safety: Lockable cross-bolt safety; rebounding hammer
- Barrel Length: 4.25 inches
- Overall Length: 6.75 inches
- Weight: 28 ounces unloaded
Despite its stainless-steel construction, the Cyclops .44 Magnum weighs in at only 28 ounces. This light-for-caliber option is an ideal range toy or a lightweight backup in bear country. The Cyclops has a 4.25-inch barrel. Loaded, that .44 Magnum bullet will still have 2.66 inches of bullet travel.
Like all other Bond Arms derringers, the Cyclops .44 Magnum has a tip-up barrel for loading and unloading. It has the same barrel hinge and milled front blade sight arrangement and is a single-action pistol, requiring the hammer to be cocked before firing. The Cyclops uses a traditional spur trigger but it comes with a removable trigger guard. Instead of the diminutive birdshead grip normally used on Bond’s guns, the Cyclops .44 Magnum comes with the same extended B6 Resin grip that is available on the Cyclops .45-70 and the Honey B series of derringers.
The Cyclops has a cross-bolt safety that can be locked down in either the fire or safe position, to either render the gun safe for storage or to keep the shooter from bumping the pistol into the safe position accidentally. The pistol can be carried with the safety off because the hammer rests in a half-cock position. The Cyclops .44 Magnum is available either alone or with a fitted black leather holster with a starting MSRP of $649.
