NcSTAR Steel Target Stand: A Range Review

All in all, the NcSTAR target stand is an extremely useful piece of range gear, and I'm glad to have it. I'll store it in my vehicle so it's always there for range trips. I like it because it's built very sturdily. It's simple to assemble or disassemble, so it can be stored compactly. Seeing how simple it is to use, I'd say that's another huge bonus. As this is written, the NcSTAR target stand sells for $39.99. Considering what the buyer gets for that price, I'd say this is a good deal, and I wouldn't mind picking up a couple more of them in the future.

The SilencerCo Velos LBP 556K: Keep It Quiet and Short

The SilencerCo Velos LBP 556K has hit the market hard and delivered a suppressor perfectly designed for home defense. The LBP 556K is a shorter, lighter sequel to the LBP, released only a few years ago. SilencerCo's original LBP series received a lot of love, but some folks thought it was just a hair too long for home defense, especially on 16-inch rifles. SilencerCo responded by trimming the length of the can from 5.98 inches to 4.76 inches. The weight dropped down to 12.4 ounces, but the LBP 556K maintains a high level of durability compared to the original LBP.

10mm Power: Perfect Handgun and Sub-Gun Combo

The 10mm cartridge isn't for everyone, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes with guns and the ammo they carry in them. I carry a lot of 9mm handguns for work and self-defense, but I also like to carry my .45 1911 from time to time. However, a 10mm is a great option to have and there are a few firearms out there that make it even that much more appealing.

HK SP5 vs Century AP5-P: A Comparison

Both the HK SP5 and the Century AP5-P were great additions to my collection. I strongly suggest adding one of these 9mm subguns to your collection if you are looking for a pistol caliber carbine (PPC), as they are incredibly soft shooting compared to other PCCs on the market. If you are able, there are reasons to go with the HK beyond name recognition, as the overall finish and fit are superior. However, if you are looking to add a more affordable option, there is still a lot to love with the Turkish-made Century Arms options.  Either way, you can’t really go wrong.

Classic 1911 Leather GI Holsters from 1791: M1916 and an M3 Tanker

Looking for a historically-themed holster for your 1911? 1791 has a new line of classics. The M3 Tanker and the GI Hip Holster are throw-backs to WWII classics.

The Cobra FS 380: Will It Hold Up?

In my opinion, the Cobra FS 380 absolutely sucks. It's a terrible gun with no redeemable features. It's not worth $60. Am I disappointed? Of course. But am I surprised? Not really. The Cobra FS 380 is a great example of how you get what you pay for.

MCK Glock Conversion Kit: A Quick Review

The Micro Conversion Kit (MCK) from Command Arms Accessories (CAA) was once all the rage. It allows shooters to convert a stock Glock into something that belongs in a sci-fi movie. But why would someone want to turn their trusty Glock into a space-age-looking sub-gun? After all, there are plenty of Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCCs) on the market to choose from.

What’s The Effective Range of Buckshot?

If you asked someone to list the downsides of shotguns, you'd very quickly get to the limited range issue. Shotguns have limited range, especially when firing shot. Slugs can extend the range but still can't reach the same range as 5.56. Shotguns lack range, but how far can they remain effective? Specifically, how far can they remain effective with buckshot? That's what I set out to figure out today.

The Walther P99: An Underrated Legend

The Walther P99 was a striker-fired polymer frame pistol with a double-stacked magazine and a DA/SA action. DA/SA polymer frame pistols are rare; most simply copy the Walther P99. The Walther P99 was produced from 1997 to 2023 in 9mm and .40 S&W. The gun recently went out with a bang, and a final edition was released with a special case, color, and collector's coin.

Galco Rifle Scabbard: A Quality Holster for Your Lever-Action Rifle

Whether you're riding the trails, cruising on your motorcycle, or simply storing it at home, the Galco Rifle Scabbard serves a purpose. For any gun enthusiast, a high-quality leather rifle scabbard is an investment that pays homage to a classic rifle. It's no different than owning a classic leather gun belt for your old-school revolver. One isn't complete without the other.
