New for 2023: Glock 49 Gen. 5 MOS

A few years ago, Glock was contracted to produce the new G47 handgun for US Customs and Border Patrol agents. It uses the shorter slide and dust cover of the Glock 19, combined with the longer grip frame of the Glock 17. Until recently, the Glock 47 was unavailable to the civilian market. But just this week, TALO announced that it will begin distributing the Glock 49 Gen 5 MOS to the civilian market for the first time.

Quick Specs:

  • Model: Glock 49 MOS
  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Capacity: 15+1
  • Barrel Length: 4.5 inches
  • Overall Length: 8 inches
  • Weight: 22.5 oz. unloaded

The Glock 49 MOS uses a shorter Glock 19 grip frame and dustcover, which retains the same Picatinny rail for a weapon light and the usual 15+1 capacity of that pistol. It uses a longer Glock 17 slide that makes the pistol more muzzle-heavy for better recoil control and an overall sight radius that is finer than the Glock 19 or the aforementioned Glock 47. The Glock 49’s grip frame will freely use Glock 19 or Glock 17 slides from Generation 4 or Generation 5 handguns but will not interchange with those of the ubiquitous Generation 3. The pistol is also compatible with standard Glock 19 15-round magazines.

The Glock 49 MOS represents all the refinements of Generation 5 Glock pistols. These include a flared magazine well for quicker, sight-free reloading, a reversible magazine release, an ambidextrous slide stop, and cocking serrations at the rear and the front of the slide. In addition, MOS denotes that the new Glock 49 is cut from the factory for an RMR. The G49 MOS is available exclusively through The TALO Group.
