Smith & Wesson Model 1854 Lever-Action Rifle in .44 Magnum: A Super-Short Review

The overall aesthetic of the Smith and Wesson Model 1854 is quite pleasing.  I have always liked the combination of black and stainless steel.  The balance was on point. The front sight came perfectly into focus in the ghost ring every time I raised the rifle.  The action worked well, and I ran about 100 rounds of LAX .44 Magnum through this rifle with no issues.

New Glock 49 MOS: Is it better for CCW or Duty Cary?

Will the Glock 49 become a standard production model or will it remain a limited run offering, as previously teased by TALO?

Top 5 Budget Guns: Another Take

While many of us enjoy having the fancier items in life, sometimes an economically priced, non-fancy tool just fills the bill well. And sometimes, that's good enough.

The Under-Appreciated Smith & Wesson CSX 9mm

Do yourself a favor and check out the Smith & Wesson CSX 9mm. It has a lot going for it.

The Smith & Wesson Response: S&W’s Latest PCCs

The S&W Response is an interesting take on the world of AR9s. The Response is all polymer, ultra-lightweight, and very easy to use. Recoil is surprisingly light for a blowback gun. As a PCC nut, the interchangeable magwells have great appeal to me. When can I get a CZ-75 version? Smith & Wesson could have easily just released an M&P Sport in 9mm but went the extra mile, and it shows.

The Guns of the Defenders

Today, we are chronicling what I call "the Defenders" and their firearm choices. The Defenders are the folks willing to carry firearms and willing to use them in the defense of themselves, their loved ones, and others. We'll look at these heroes, their feats, and the tools they used to get it done and make a difference. You may notice I've left active duty law enforcement out of the mix.

The Taurus Judge Home Defender: A Qualified Room Broom

The Judge Home Defender seems like a novelty weapon, but as the range time proved, it's a capable weapon. Plus, it's just tons of fun to shoot.

The Ruger LCP Max: A Tiny Terror?

At the time of this writing, the LCP Max can be found in gun shops in the high $300 range. I think this one's worth checking out.

Top 5 Least Favorite Carry Handguns

Throughout my tenure as a gun owner, I've found a few handguns that I'd never again carry. Some were uncomfortable, some were unreliable, and some just didn't work well for me. I've compiled a list of my top 5 least favorite carry handguns. Some might disagree with this list, but to each their own, right?

The Kel-Tec P32 Gen 2: The Ultimate Pocket Pistol

The Kel-Tec P32 is, in my opinion, the best pocket pistol on the market. It's super small, super lightweight, and very reliable. It's controllable and fires a rimfire cartridge capable of penetrating deep enough to stop a threat. The little P32 doesn't get the love it deserves, and the Gen 2 only took a good handgun and made it better.
