Colt Python: New Revolver Lengths

Some of you may remember a few weeks back when Colt quietly announced its Python revolver release. Well, information has finally come out and we can give you the full rundown of the 2.5” AND, the equally new, 5” Python revolver. According to Colt, these two new models are cosmetically the same as the other Python versions.

As previously reported, the 2.5” barreled and the 5” barreled Pythons follow the family line of snake guns from Colt. The double-action revolvers are chambered in .357 Magnum but are able to handle .38 Special cartridges as well. Each revolver has a stainless steel frame with a semi-bright finish, typical of other Pythons, the engraved rearing Colt, and features Walnut grips.

The 2.5” Python is 8” long, 5.5” tall, and is 39 ounces unloaded. It features an interchangeable red ramp front sight and an adjustable rear sight [for windage and elevation]. Like other Pythons, it can be either single or double action and has a trigger pull weight between 7-9.5 pounds.

The 5” barreled Python revolver has a 10.5” overall length, 5.5” height, and weighs just over 43 ounces unloaded. Like the other revolvers in the Python family, it can be either single- or double-action and features an updated design to meet the quality standards of today’s shooters. It features a fiber front sight with an adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.

According to information from Colt, the updated Python features modern stainless steel alloys with 30% more steel below the rear sight for a stronger revolver and a more robust shooting experience.

Both new Python revolver models have a 6-round capacity and are available now. Colt says you’ll want to shoot and show off these new Pythons. The Python 2.5” and 5” revolvers have an MSRP of $1,499.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
