NSSF Score Legal Victory in California
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has won an important victory against the state of California. US District Judge Andrew Schopler granted the NSSF’s request for a preliminary injunction against the enforcement of California AB (Assembly Bill) 1594, which allows for frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers when criminals misuse their products.
It’s been a while since we covered any significant Second Amendment news. Nothing Earth-shattering has happened, but there’s lots of movement. Those movements could portend some very good news this year. So, let’s look at what’s happening right now, and maybe take a peek at the old crystal ball.

SHOT Show 2024 has come and gone, but the afterglow remains. I saw so many guns, packs, optics, tools, and gizmos that I can hardly keep them straight. But several products stood out, as they always do. Let's take a look at a few of those.
Teddy Roosevelt’s Suppressed Rifles
Roosevelt clearly understood the benefits of suppressed firearms. He was an avid and active shooter, hunter, and general outdoorsman. He understood that shooting damages hearing and that suppressors can mitigate that damage. He also clearly grasped the benefits reaped by others who may be nearby.
SHOT Show is chock full of awesome firearms. But you also run across some strange items. A few don’t look like guns at all. I didn’t see as many of those this year as I did in 2023, but they were there. Let's take a look at a few of those weird, odd, and strange guns that caught my eye at SHOT Show 2024.
Binary triggers aren’t for everyone. Some folks like them and some don’t. I don’t have binary triggers on my home defense guns for the reasons discussed previously. I’m not a competition shooter, nor will I ever be. I have exactly one binary trigger-equipped firearm. I shoot mine because it’s fun, and that’s enough for me.

Hold My Guns: Safe and Compassionate Gun Storage
We hear a lot about safe gun storage these days. Gun control advocates have seized on safe storage laws, along with so-called “universal background checks,” as a means toward eventual gun registration. They never present it that way, of course. However, safe firearms storage takes many forms and is a legitimate concern in the firearms community. One of those forms is safely storing firearms for law-abiding gun owners in transition or crisis. That need prompted the creation of the Pennsylvania-based nonprofit Hold My Guns.
