JAKL 5.56 vs AR-15

In general, the long-stroke piston (like the AK-47) is more reliable than other systems. A rifle with this system will generally continue to cycle and fire correctly regardless of how dirty the gun gets. It also shoots cleaner than a gas impingement system, but it comes at a cost. Long-stroke piston systems tend to kick more and are not as accurate.

AXIL XCOR Bluetooth Earbuds for the Range

With the audio function turned on, I could easily hear those around me, and the sound was clear. When I would speak, my own voice sounded different to me than it does with earmuffs, but that’s to be expected. I fired several different calibers of handguns and rifles to test the XCOR buds.

Vortex Venom vs. Swampfox Tomahawk II: LPVO Shootout

I’ve already been using these optics for a while and they both appear to be made extremely well. The point of this review isn’t to find a winner or loser but to point out the features each optic offers. My hope is that this information will help you in your endeavor to select a new LPVO for your rifle.

1791 Gunleather IWB Holster: A Review

I carried several guns in the Fare Chase holster to see how well it worked with different ones. I would normally advise people to stay away from “multi-fit” holsters. But in this case, the guns listed by 1791 Gunleather fit like they were made for each other.

Tourniquets On Tactical Holsters: A Good Idea?

Is it a good idea to attach a tourniquet to your tactical holster or duty holster? Mostly yes, partly no. Let's discuss.

HM Defense AR-15 Rifles: A Superior Design?

HM Defense uses forged 7075-T6 lower receivers with Type III Class II hard-coat, black anodized finish. The upper receiver is made from 7075-T6 M4 aluminum with the same anodized finish as the lower. My Raider MC5 has M4 feed ramps and standard 1913 rail on top.

Walker’s Razor and Walkie-Talkie Combo: How Does It Work?

Want a headset that allows you to visit with your buddy while you’re shooting at the range? The Walker’s Razor earmuffs and Walkie-Talkie attachment are the perfect combination.

Viridian RFX11 vs Ruger Ready Dot: A Comparison Review

Like most optics, your decision will likely come down to features and cost. The Viridian retails for about $100 more than Ruger’s Ready Dot. Handgun-mounted red dots are a given in today’s world, but picking one out is not an easy endeavor. If you want a small, compact optic, there’s a good chance it will have the RMSc footprint.

Bear Creek Arsenal BC9: Full-Length PCC with Side Charging Handle

Bear Creek Arsenal has been making a name for itself with its patented side charging handle AR platform. And so far, I’m liking what I see. A while back, I reviewed one of their 5.56 side charging ARs, but I recently had the opportunity to take the BC9 9mm PCC to the range for a bit of T&E. Let's see how it performed!

Safariland Species holster: Appendix and Strongside Carry for CCW

The Safariland Species holster is one of my favorite inside-the-waistband (IWB) holsters ever to hit the market. It's comfortable, easy to conceal, and incredibly reliable. Take a look for yourself!
