About the Glock 24

The Glock® 24 is a long-slide competition target pistol, chambered for the hard-hitting and affordable .40 S&W cartridge. Built around an advanced polymer frame with the iconic Glock Safe Trigger design, the striker-fired G24 offers the same dependable field performance that Glock is internationally known for, packed in a powerful, competition-ready package. Dual recoil action technology drastically reduces felt recoil and blowback for enhanced accuracy and improved handling. Specifically engineered for competitive shooting applications, the G24 also features an accurate 6.02” barrel, and a Tenifer-treated 416 steel slide with a corrosion- and scratch-resistant Nitride finish for enhanced service life, improved muzzle velocity, and enhanced accuracy in competitive shooting environments. Other features include longer slide dimensions and elongated distance between sights, as well as extended controls including an improved magazine release and slide stop lever.

The G24 also boasts ambidextrous controls for improved reliability and safe handling with both right- and left-handed shooters, while the high-strength polymer frame features improved ergonomics with molded finger grooves and interchangeable grip panels and backstraps for a comfortable, non-slip grip with all hand sizes. Plus, the extended frame-mounted 1913 Picatinny rail readily accepts a wide variety of weapon lights, laser sights, counterweights, and other tactical/competition-approved accessories.

What’s a “Target Pistol” and How Are They Different From Other Pistols?
Much like a target rifle is designed primarily for long-range target shooting applications, a target pistol is a handgun, specifically engineered to ring steel and punch holes at greater distances, while duty and personal defense pistols are designed to excel in close-quarter combat environments. Target pistols are engineered to make the gun as accurate and controllable as possible in action sports, plinking, and Olympic/professional competition applications. Target pistols often feature enhanced fire controls, elongated target barrels with improved rifling, lightening cuts, and performance-enhanced grips, all of which tend to come with a premium price tag.
