ZEV Technologies OZ9 Duty: Modular Technology

Choosing a handgun is about more than caliber, it’s about design, fit, and performance. ZEV Technologies has an established reputation for coming up with innovative designs that are also useful, and their handgun line proves the point. The OZ9 Duty is part of the handgun lineup and it’s a gun built for dedicated use. This pistol isn’t a safe queen, it’s made to be shot.

The ZEV Technologies OZ9 Duty is chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum and provides a number of features designed to make the gun more user-friendly, comfortable, and accurate. This gun has the company’s Duty slide, of course, and just the slide is full of fantastic attention to detail. The slide has angled forward and rearward serrations to make racking the slide easier and avoid slipping. Of course, if you’re going to use the front of your slide for manipulations, take the time to learn how to do so properly and safely. Other slide-related features include it being optics-ready, having a lowered ejection port to facilitate smooth ejection, and shipping with ZEV tritium night sights.

There’s more to a gun than its slide, though, and the OZ9 Duty delivers across the board. The frame of the pistol has strategically placed texturing on the grip and forward portion of the frame itself, so it’s easy to hold firmly even with wet or sweaty hands, and an extended beavertail helps shooters maintain a high grip. An accessory rail ahead of the trigger guard also makes adding an aftermarket accessory such as a light or laser quick and straightforward.

Even the underside of the trigger guard itself is made to improve grip thanks to a unique rounded undercut shape. Controls on the OZ9 Duty are placed so there shouldn’t be a need to significantly adjust the shooter’s grip in order to operate them.

Features of the OZ9 Duty include:

  • ZEV Technologies Duty slide.
  • Slide machined from 17-4 stainless steel billet for incredible durability and longevity.
  • Lowered ejection port so spent brass ejects reliably, which improves cycling.
  • Match grade and precision milled to exacting specifications for superior quality.
  • Modular grip technology so the gun fits a variety of hand sizes comfortably.
  • Ships with tritium night sights so it’s ready to go right out of the box.
  • Removable plate in the optics-ready slide so shooters can mount a red dot sight if they choose.
  • Grip textured for a better hold even with wet hands, which improves safety and accuracy.
  • Designed for accuracy and reliability.
  • Accessory rail so lights and lasers can be added to the gun.
  • Made to withstand wear and tear.
