Recently, I had the occasion to check out the Ultimate Gun Cleaning Kit from Strike Industries. They’ve certainly managed to pack a lot of cleaning gear into a very organized hard case. In this article, I will list the contents of the kit. Most of their uses are fairly straightforward, so I won’t go into minute detail on a lot of this stuff.
What’s in the Strike Industries Ultimate Gun Cleaning Kit?

- Six pieces of brass rod with both male and female ends.
- Solid brass rods, with a total combined length of 28 inches. They range in caliber from .177 to .280 for rifles and handguns and .30 caliber and up rifles. They also accommodate shotguns.
- 14 pieces of bronze brushes for the following calibers: .22, .243, .45, .40, .357 (9mm), 12 ga., 20 ga., .54, .50, .410 ga., .30, .270, and .17. The calibers are engraved on each brush.
- Nine pieces of cotton mops (threaded) for the following: 12 ga., 20 ga., .410 ga., .50, .357, .22, .30, .40, and .17. The calibers are engraved above each thread.
- 12 brass jags: .17, .22, .243, .25, .27, .30, .338, .35, .40, .44, and .45.
- One brass powder jag in .50.
- Four pieces of brass slotted tips: 12, 22, 30, and .410.
- Two packages of 50 cleaning patches.
- One LED flexible flashlight. It works well for illuminating the barrel through the chamber area to inspect the bore of the firearm.
- Three plastic muzzle guards. These are nice in the event you cannot insert the rod from the breach so that you do not damage the threads at the crown of the muzzle of your firearm.
- Three brass adapters for cleaning rods.
- Three plastic handled brushes of various bristles—nylon, steel, brass. These are great for general use and getting into areas that are tough to reach.
- One empty oil bottle.

This gun cleaning kit is organized!
Whew! That’s a lot of stuff! I like that it all packs into the hard-cased cleaning kit, and each piece has its own place. Most of the pieces click into slots so they don’t go for a ride when you have the case closed and it moves about. It’s nice to be able to put the components in, secure them, and close the kit up, knowing that next time you open it, everything will be just as you left it, ready to go.
The fact that the kit is lightweight and flat allows it to be easily stored and transported, making the whole affair rather convenient. One thing that I really love is that each slot is labeled for the piece of gear that belongs there, so there’s no confusion about where everything belongs.

It’s a quality kit.
Make no mistake, this isn’t a kit with cheap components, hastily thrown together. Rather, everything in the kit is high quality and worth having. When they put this kit together, they took their time and did it the right way. Especially nice are the brass components that are included.
It’s convenient.
I have to confess that I loathe cleaning weapons, deep down in my soul. It is an absolute chore that tears at me after a range session. I do it out of absolute necessity, but only because I really have to. Some folks find it to be a relaxing activity that helps them to chill out, and I really envy them for that. Perhaps if there were some way that I could tap into that positive mojo…
The Strike Industries Ultimate Gun Cleaning Kit, though, has taken out some of the pain of cleaning for me. The fact that almost everything that I need is right at my fingertips helps. Not having to root through bags and such to find the little pieces that I need really is a major boon and goes a long way toward soothing my deep-seated loathing.

The fact that this kit also hits most of the calibers that we could conceivably come up with also helps a lot. You could even clean your .177 pellet rifle bore with this kit if you were inclined to do so! That, to me, is versatility, and Strike Industries is to be commended for it.
I have other gun cleaning kits, and typically, they will accommodate anywhere from one caliber up to a few, maybe a handful. They’re more specialized (read that as limited) than this one. The Strike Industries kit hits almost all calibers.

About the only thing you’re going to need to add to this kit is lubrication and cleaning solvent. I’m partial to the various spray cleaners on the market these days. They really get into the small areas in guns that are hard to reach and I’m a huge fan. Once you include these items, this kit will be very complete. I’d likely store cleaners and solvents separately from the kit so they don’t spill inside the case, which would be a real mess.
At the time of this writing, retail for the Ultimate Gun Cleaning Kit is $69.95, which is a pretty good buy, considering all the components you’re getting in one kit. It will be tough to find a more complete kit for less money.
