Star Spangled BANGER: a Patriotic Deagle

Magnum Research, a company headquartered in the awesomely named Pillager, MN, has introduced what they’re calling the “Star Spangled Banger.” It’s a patriotic-themed Deagle (Desert Eagle) chambered in .50 Action Express (.50AE). A ginormous semi-auto handgun might not be the typical canvas for an homage to the American flag, but they make it work. And why not? ‘Merica.

This would be the perfect handgun for Christopher “Peacemaker” Smith.

The Old Glory-adorned custom pistol begins life as a Desert Eagle model DE50, which uses the half-inch diameter .50 AE pistol cartridge. It’s a big bullet, which makes sense. The four and half pound Deagle is a big gun. Big enough to have a stretch of Weaver accessory rail running from the chamber area out to just behind the front sight. You can throw an optic or set of scope rings on there if that’s your thing. I suppose you could even throw a low-power variable optic (LPVO) up top if you wanted.

In addition to a custom Cerakote job they describe as an “…expression of the patriotism felt by the Magnum Research team,” the pistol features an integral muzzle brake, fixed combat sights, and rubber grips. It ships with a single seven-round capacity magazine.

Features

The DE50 is a Kahr Firearms/Magnum Research Deagle lineup staple. In addition to 50AE, it’s available in .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum models, with barrels up to 14.75 inches (!) long, counting the muzzle brake. All have a locked barrel with polygonal rifling and ambidextrous safety. The latter disconnects the trigger bar from the sear while blocking the firing pin. Multiple finishes are available on the non-custom versions, including polished chrome, brushed chrome, black oxide, stainless steel, distressed white, Titanium gold, black aluminum, and more. They also offer some camouflage print versions like old-school tiger stripes, gold with tiger stripes, white with tiger stripes, and others.
