Ruger’s New 10/22 Target Lite
Sturm, Ruger & Co. expanded the 10/22 line of rimfire rifles with the introduction of a new gun called the 10/22 Target Lite. This new rifle has some great new features while retaining many of the classic aspects that have made these guns so popular.
A quick glance at this gun and you will see that it is not a typical 10/22. The tried and true 10/22 action is set in a black laminate thumb hole stock. The stock can be adjusted to alter the length of pull while the handguard is vented to help keep the barrel assembly cool. Built into the stock are studs for adding a sling.
Ruger opted for a tension barrel system to keep things both light and accurate. The 16.1” barrel is cold hammer forged with an aluminum sleeve. It has a ½”x28 thread pattern for the addition of a suppressor or other muzzle device. Ruger does include a screw on thread protector.
Ruger uses a glass filled polymer trigger housing that is heat stabilized. According to the company, it has improved manufacturing tolerances and increased resistance to the elements.
An extended magazine release is a standard feature on this rifle. As you might expect, this gun uses standard Ruger 10/22 magazines. It comes with a single 10-round rotary magazine, but it will also accept the BX-15 (15-rounds) and BX-25 (25 rounds) magazines. Other aftermarket magazines should also work fine in this rifle.
The company includes a scope mount adapter with the gun. The adapter works for both .22 tip off style scope mounts and those with a Waver mount.
This gun is already in production and is shipping to distributors. Your local gun shop should have them in stock or be able to order you one up. The suggested retail price is $649. Often, Ruger products sell for less at a gun dealer, so you might be able to find these for around $600.
