Federal Premium is well known for its quality ammunition and innovative designs. For NRAAM 2023 the ammo maker is launching some new loads, including expansions of existing, proven lines. One such new addition is the 7mm PRC which will be offered in Federal’s popular Terminal Ascent line. Terminal Ascent is a fantastic hunting load designed for superior ballistic performance on game animals. Even better, 7mm PRC Terminal Ascent will be available in more than one weight.
According to Federal Premium, 7mm PRC will now be offered in 155-grain and 170-grain Terminal Ascent. Features include a high ballistic coefficient (BC) and heavy-for-caliber bullets. There will actually be three new 7mm PRC loads total, allowing hunters to choose between Terminal Ascent or ELD-X bullets. Cartridges are loaded with Gold Medal primers, carefully formulated propellant, and quality, new brass.

We looked at the 7mm PRC and it’s capabilities as a new cartridge and knew that paired with Terminal Ascent, we would have a fantastic load for the hunter and shooter. With the faster twist rates, the high BC and long ogive in Terminal Ascent is a great combination for the hunter and shooter. People will like the energy that the .284-inch caliber carries, and through our test shooting we are extremely pleased with the accuracy of these new loads.
7mm PRC is a great cartridge with applications for precision shooting and, of course, hunting at longer distances. With a Terminal Ascent load for this cartridge, hunters interested in taking longer shots have greater options for a one-shot, ethical kill. Of course, Federal has other new loads for 2023 coming, too. Stay tuned for more.
