Whether you are hunting in areas off limits to lead ammunition or looking for the latest in shotgun slug technology to give you the edge, the new Federal Premium Freight Train Slug may be the solution for you.
The Federal Freight Train round is a monolithic copper hollow-point slug with a deep cavity for maximum upset, even at the lower end of the velocity spectrum. This sabot slug is capped with a polymer tip for the best possible aerodynamics out of a rifled slug gun, even at distances approaching 200 yards where other slugs are falling off the target board.
“One of the key factors to the accuracy of the new Federal Premium Freight Train is its exclusive sabot design, which improves overall accuracy through rifled barrels,” Adam Moser, Federal’s Director of Shotshell Product, said. “The streamlined polypropylene tip in Federal Premium’s new Freight Train copper sabot slug also advances performance in several ways, improving accuracy, expansion, and downrange energy.”
The Federal Freight Train slug is available in either 12 gauge or 20 gauge and with either a 2.75-inch or 3-inch shell length. The 12 gauge version features a 300-grain slug with an advertised velocity of 1,900 or 2,000 feet per second, depending on the shell length you choose. The 20 gauge uses a lighter 275-grain slug with velocities ranging from 1,700 to 1,900 feet per second. All options come in boxes of five rounds with an MSRP starting at $22.99.
