TOPS Knives recently announced their new EDC sized version of the Silent Hero knife, the Silent Hero 4. This new, smaller Silent Hero knife is a good option for someone looking for a familiar feel but still is capable when necessary.
The original Silent Hero knife, designed by Anton du Plessis, was intended to be used as a bush or defense knife in Africa for those fighting against rhino poachers. Over time and used by many people on different continents, Anton realized he didn’t always need such a large knife on his hip; thus the Silent Hero 4 was born. This is the smaller version of that blade but reportedly still good in a fight, just in a small everyday carry size.
The new smaller sized option is supposed to be even easier to carry every day or even for use in bushcrafting. With the handle and blade shape similar to a full-sized knife, it can be used in a majority of cutting tasks. The shrunk down profile has a blade is 1/8” wide and 4” long instead of 3/16” wide and 6” long for the original Silent Hero.
The finish is Sniper Grey Cerakote, instead of black, and comes with a Kydex sheath instead of leather. The MSRP is $210.
