Maxim Defense: MD-15 and MD-1505 Low Profile and Patrol Rifles

Maxim Defense isn’t just another AR company. They’ve produced some impressively small and innovative designs in the last few years. Things like the PDX show just how small the AR platform can get. (Also, how loud an AR can get!) This year at SHOT 2022, they unveiled the MD:15 and SDX series of rifles, carbines, and AR pistols.

MD-15

The MD-15 flies in the face of what Maxim Defense typically does. They are known for unique, modern, and high-quality rifles and AR pistols that are super small. The MD-15 series keeps the quality but goes in a more standard direction. They are built to provide law enforcement officers and the average joe with a standard AR 15.

They’ve gone a little more traditional with these rifles.

The more standard nature promises to lower the cost of the rifle and make it more versatile outside of CQB. That being said, they do produce the guns with the PDW style stocks and braces as well with barrels as short as 8.5 inches. The Maxim Defense website lists short-barrelled models, but the booth at SHOT Show 2022 showed standard 16-inch rifles as well.

What happens when you trim a rifle barrel down, and I mean way down? Well, you get a lightweight, easy to maneuver rifle that works well for close quarters. The MD-1505 brings shooters a standard AR configuration rifle with a much shorter barrel than average. How short?

The MD1505 proves size doesn’t matter.

Well, 5.5 inches short. That’s nuts, and I imagine the fireball and concussion do as much damage as the bullet. The MD-1505 comes as the latest low vis weapon from Maxim Defense. Luckily they come with the HATEBRAKE to help propel all that downrange. Plus they have a 1 MOA guarantee!

Maxim Defense and SHOT Show 2022

Maxim Defense has rolled out a variety of new products, including an AR 10 style rifle, a new line of suppressed uppers, and more. Keep an eye out on the growing field and the latest from SHOT Show right here.
