Lever-Action Handguards: New for Rossi and Winchester

Midwest Industries (MI) has announced the availability of new M-LOK handguards for Winchester and Rossi brand lever action rifles — specifically, the Winchester 94 and Rossi 92 models.

The point of the new rails is, of course, for accessories. Much as the popularity of “clone rifles” is increasing, so too is the interest in building a modern (or “tactical”) lever action rifle. An M-LOK or other attachment system is a crucial part of such efforts.

Why? Because if you’re going to throw a weapon-mounted light on there (which is always a good idea for any weapon you might be fighting with), you’re going to need a good place to put it. The same goes for a red dot sight, low-power variable optic, etc. — assuming you put it forward of the receiver, of course.

Hell, you could also put a DBAL (Dual Beam Aiming Laser), MAWL (Modular Advanced Weapon Laser), or rail-mounted camera on there. Same as you can with an AR, albeit not as many.

If you’re looking to build a modern tactical lever action rifle, you’ll need a place to put your fighting accessories (WML, possibly an optic, visible or IR laser if appropriate). These rails will help with that. They’ll also provide you with some options when it comes to mounting a sling.

Like other rail upgrades in this Midwest Industries series, the new additions are made from 6061 hard-coat anodized aluminum. There’s a forward-mounted sling swivel up front if you prefer a traditional hunting sling to something more “tactical-QD.” They’re made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty.

As you can see from the following specs, they’re slim and lightweight, too.

  • Handguard Length: 13.625″
  • Handguard Width: 1.640″
  • Handguard Weight: 7.4 oz

Midwest Industries assures us the new handguards will “integrate seamlessly” with an existing Rossi 92 or Winchester 94 without eliminating the use of traditional iron sights.

MI manufactures accessories and upgrades for a range of long guns (and not just lever action rifles, either). Seen here is some modern lever gun goodness on a Henry lever action rifle.
