There are a lot of AR-15s on the market, but they aren’t all created equally. That said, if you’re looking for a carbine capable of producing a bigger boom than the classic 5.56 NATO provides in a compact size, you should look at the Four Peaks Tactical AR-15 pistol and SBR. The two guns are chambered in the hard-hitting 300 HAM’R cartridge and designed for serious use.
Ted Malone, a co-founder of Four Peaks Tactical, had a few things to say about the company’s hard-hitting AR-15 carbine:
Our new 11.3 inch carbine in 300 HAM’R provides excellent terminal performance, delivering more than twice the bullet weight of standard M193 or M855 5.56mm projectiles and launched with a muzzle velocity of approximately 2300 feet per second. It is 100% American-made and meticulously crafted by our veteran-owned family enterprise here in Arizona.
The company released details of their 300 HAM’R:
The…11.3” barreled firearm was designed at the request of a law enforcement agency that was looking for a harder-hitting “breacher” caliber but one that retained the light weight and compactness of an AR-15 entry carbine.
They went on to say:
The 300 HAM’R round was developed by Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat to provide a superior 30 caliber round that rivals the 30-30 Winchester, but in the small frame AR-15 platform.
The 300 HAM’R was developed for optimal terminal performance in a standard AR rifle – and offers near .308 Winchester effectiveness while exceeding the ballistics of the famous 30-30 rifle – the most popular hunting cartridge of all time.
The 300 HAM’R cartridge has 18% more retained velocity 40% more energy and a 56% flatter trajectory than the 300 Blackout at 200 Yards! The 300 HAM’R has amazing accuracy and low recoil in a lightweight, compact, standard AR platform rifle that uses a standard 5.56 bolt. We recommend a 300 BLK magazine for best overall reliability. Ammunition and reloading dies/info is available from Wilson Combat.
