Ed Brown Product Releases New Kobra Carry Dual Caliber 1911

Ed Brown Products, the creator of the custom 1911 and other pistols for over the last 50 years, has announced the newest addition to its Kobra Carry line of 1911 pistols with the Dual Caliber model. Coming in time for the 25th Anniversary of the original Kobra Carry pistol, the Dual Caliber pistol will allow the owner to swap between 9mm and .45 ACP.

The Kobra Carry Dual Caliber 1911-style pistol offers flexibility when it comes to carrying and on the range. The pistol comes standard with a 4.25” Commander model slide with a fixed black rear sight and orange HDXR front sight. The single-stack Commander Bobtail frame and slide feature a black G4 coating with a snakeskin treatment, and within the slide is a flush barrel with a recessed crown and recessed slide stop.

“Our Dual Caliber Kobra Carry is the latest example of a long line of Ed Brown innovations,” said Dave Biggers, Ed Browns Director of Sales & Marketing. According to the company, the Bobtail minimizes printing of the weapon when carrying while helping to reduce weight, while the snakeskin treatment allows for just the right amount of grip for positive hand feel and handling.

The Dual Caliber system includes everything the user would need to swap from the .45 ACP to 9mm, including the complete EVO 9mm upper and additional features like a thinned slide, barrel, and flat wire recoil system. The system has the slide, barrel, firing pin assembly, recoil assembly, slide stop, ejector, and a 9mm magazine.

Specifically, the 9mm EVO upper portion has a 4” 9mm upper with a thin slide. On top of the thinned slide is a Vortex Venom red dot sight with a 6 MOA reticle. Inside the slide sits the bull barrel that fits flush with a recessed crown, so the pistol doesn’t get any longer with the EVO upper. The 9mm slide has special front and rear serrations for easier manipulations, in addition to the Black Gen4 coating for durability.

The Ed Brown Kobra Carry Dual Caliber pistol is available now and has an MSRP of $4,695.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
