For those who want to carry a 1911 but prefer it be lighter weight than many models, there’s the polymer Moxie line from American Tactical. And for the ultimate in concealability, there’s the ATI FXH-45M Moxie Commander. The Moxie Commander is a more compact version of the full-sized Government model and is designed for reliable performance and ease of operation.

American Tactical provides details of the compact 1911:

The FXH-45M Moxie Commander looks and feels different with an all-new barrel, slide, and sight set. This is a commander-size hybrid 1911 pistol featuring a patented polymer frame with two metal inserts for added stability and durability. The Moxie also features a 4140 steel slide with a parkerized finish. The frame was designed with built-in finger grooves for an ergonomic feel.

The FXH-45M Moxie Commander is a single-action, semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP with a 4.25-inch barrel. It has a height of 5.4 inches and measures 8 inches long. It weighs 1.5 lbs unloaded and without the magazine. The Moxie has black polymer grips and a removable top plate that allows for the addition of an optics mount. It accepts Glock front and rear sights, including aftermarket night sights. This new breed of 1911 is compatible with most standard 1911 parts and grips. It ships with one 8-round magazine included.

The compact nature of the gun’s Commander-sized frame makes it a good option for concealed carry. As is expected with a 1911 Commander, the Moxie Commander has a 4.25-inch barrel and a smaller overall size. The gun maker also manufactures a full-sized version of the gun. That’s the Government model, featuring a 5.0-inch barrel and full-sized frame. Both guns are chambered in 45 ACP and have polymer frames.

This is a relatively lightweight polymer 1911 that’s easily customizable. It’s compatible with most Glock sights, meaning you can choose from a practically endless selection of sights, and the accessory rail makes it simple to add a weapon-mounted light or laser. And if you prefer a red dot sight, a removable plate on the slide makes it possible to add one without searching for a plate or having the gun milled.

MSRP for the ATI FXH-45M Moxie Commander is set at $459.95.
