30-06 Springfield Ammunition

Trusted by big game hunters, tactical shooters, and American military units, the .30-06 Springfield cartridge was introduced to the United States Army in 1906 and remained in service as the U.S. Army's primary rifle and machine gun cartridge for nearly 50 years before being replaced by the 7.62×51mm NATO and 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge. In 1906, the original M1906 .30-06 cartridge was loaded with a 150-grain flat-base cupronickel-jacketed-bullet before being redesigned and loaded with a streamlined, 173-grain boattail, gilding-metal bullet, resulting in the .30, M1 ball cartridge. The new M1 ammunition proved to be significantly more accurate than the M1906 round and outmatched smaller European cartridges during WWI in terms of accuracy, range, and overall effectiveness. In 1938, the .30-06 cartridge was again redesigned with a 150-grain flat-base bullet, resulting in the improved M2 ball cartridge. M2 ball was the standard-issue ammunition for military rifles and machine guns until it was replaced by the 7.62×51mm NATO round in 1954.

Today, the .30-06 remains one of the most popular sporting and hunting cartridges in the world. Shop our full collection of .30-06 Springfield ammo today and get the ammo you need at a price you can afford!
